Handling Inquiry Rejections | Seaside Sessions VIDEO BLOG

What have I gotten myself into!? This is just me in my super fancy home office, aka one of two bedrooms in our tiny little Kitty Hawk condo…and I share it with a toddler bed and baby crib. The beauty in this business is that some people need the fancy offices, and that’s okay! And us? We can move to the town of our dreams, give up so many material things and a life we knew in Hampton Roads and decide that sharing an office with two little girl’s sleeping quarters…well, that’s okay, too 🙂 As long as the pictures are still coming out beautifully and the blogs keep coming, mama’s doing alright 🙂

I decided to shoot this first one pretty real, and just to have a little honest talk about some things to consider when you get rejected from an inquiring potential client. Yes– Cammy and Ellie are in it and that’s because that’s how my world runs! I LOVE that business and family have always gone together for us! It’s hard work and sometimes you have to make a break in the video because of a horrible toddler meltdown…but hey, it’s life haha!

Well…it’s not perfect. And it’s 1 minute longer than I wanted. I kept it under 5 minutes..but I wanted 3 only! Next time, I will be a little more efficient, I promise!! But…I DID IT!!! Here’s to imperfection, trying new things, teaching anything and everything I can and having Ellie start yelling at the end of my video. I can DEFINITELY see her being my little assistant one day shouting the names for family formals during weddings hahahaha!! XOOXOX HAPPY MONDAY! Don’t get burned by those rejection emails, it’s OKAY!!

  1. i love this!! This week we actually found out the bride and groom whom we shot their engagement photos and have been talking to since November… The brides mom decided she wanted to book a friend. Which is so heart aching that a mom would choose for her daughter and son in law just because she’s paying for it. I hope they change their mind. :/ but it was sad! Thank you

  2. I LOVED this first video blog!!! Thank you for the tips because I definitely have not been doing any of this 😦 ! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how you keep it real!! I have two small boys and have the hardest time trying to grow my business and be a mom. You are definitely an inspiration!

  3. Amanda , I love this. And ur girls are so cute. Not sure of you remember me, but you shot our photos when we had the mda muscle walk a few yrs ago in Richmond. I ask you to do it again but you were going to be busy that day. Well our next mda muscle walk is coming up in early may. Its going to be at the Richmond Raceway. You can notify Lettie Phillips at 804-796-4807 or MDA to let them know if you can shoot our photos that day. Thanks again, and have a blessed week. Tammy Foster

  4. I love this! What an important reminder to be gracious and humble in our responses even to those who cannot hire us. You’re so right – especially about the piece where they will refer you to others, I’ve had that happen!!

I can’t wait to mentor with you in a few weeks!

  5. oh my gosh, those sweet girls! You are such a good mommy! I love this advice and agree on all points! I also definitely needed the encouragement to stick to my pricing! Thank you so much and I look forward to more blog posts from you! Much love, Brooke.

  6. I love this and you!!! Plus, I think I have the glitter bag you have in the background (Target?!). This is wonderful and I hope you do more! 🙂

  7. Amanda, thank you so much for this video blog!! The information is fantastic, your girls are adorable and precocious (trust me I know how toddlers can melt down), and I love having you speaking directly to us. It’s an awesome way to connect with you!! Would love to hear how you handle bad weather during shoots. Thank You!!!! Keep the videos coming!!
